Believing Truth: Mighty Warrior

Today on the Believing Truth Blog we’re kicking off a fun series of blogs written by fellow women of faith. The Believing Truth bloggers were chosen via Instagram and over the next few weeks will be guest writing here! Today’s post is from Kristin Robbins! She’s a mother, wife, and fellow crafter. After you read her entry below, hop over to her blog and see what she’s up to Kristin’s Blog

Lydia, at Believing Truth, sent me this gorgeous watercolored & embossed scripture card and asked for the women who received them to share.  As a Christian woman, a follower of Christ, I felt strongly about doing this. In the times we are living in, I feel strongly about sharing the Truth of God’s Word, the Bible, with others. fullsizerender-jpg

As I looked up the text regarding this bible verse, I was reminded of one of my favorite stories.  Gideon was a Hebrew (Israelite) man who God used to accomplish His purpose.

The full verse is this-

Judges 6:12

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”

Now, Gideon was working at the time that the angel of the Lord appeared.  Talk about being surprised!  When reading this verse, you may focus on the words/phrase mighty warrior, but Gideon focused on The Lord is with you.  He then asked the angel of the Lord questions and even tested God.  Not once, not twice, but THREE times over the course of two different days.

To say that Gideon was weak and fearful may be an understatement, and to imagine that God was calling him a *Mighty Warrior?!* Unthinkable!

But dear readers, that is the power that WE have within us! Jesus Christ is WITH us… and that ALONE makes us a MIGHTY WARRIOR.  Are you diligent in your child-rearing, professional activities, church activities?  He is with you.  But as a mighty warrior of God… you have the ability and capacity and power to do so much more!  Do you know the REST of the story of Gideon??

There were 300 men with Gideon and he defeated (because the Lord was with him!) several hundred thousand Midianites.

What, then, does God want you to do?  What is He calling you to do that will cause others to say, “Whoa, that was God!”

  1. So true. Believing in God and trusting that where he is leading we will follow. We are mighty warriors and this journey called life we walk, we need him every hour, every day. He knows our struggles and every step of the way he walks with us. Great post.
